JAGUAR NATION TO DEBUT ON CST
The “Jaguar Nation”, a new television show will make its debut on Cox Sports Television Wednesday. It will air every Wednesday at 6:00 pm (CT), with a new episode debuting the last Wednesday of every month.
This show features stories and segments on current student-athletes, as well as past great student-athletes, and a “Where are They Now” segment.
The show will air a feature on Vince Lands, a senior defensive end on the SU football team, who has already graduated and is currently taking graduate classes. Lands has taken the MCAT (required for medical school) and has already passed the dental school entrance exam.
Also featured will be Brian Johnson, current assistant track coach, and former men’s basketball and track student-athlete. Johnson represented the United States in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics in the long jump.
Current Athletic Director, Greg LaFleur, was featured in the debut show.
FORMER ATHLETES TO MAKE HUMAN TUNNEL
Help celebrate Homecoming by forming a human tunnel.
Southern University Athletic Director Greg LaFleur has invited all former lettermen, regardless of sport, to meet in the area under the scoreboard south of the field to form a human tunnel for the football team before its homecoming game Saturday against Texas Southern.
Everyone must purchase a ticket prior to the game, and return to their seats following the formation of the tunnel.

SU VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO SLU
Southern’s volleyball team fell to in-state rival Southeastern Louisiana University, 3-1, in Hammond Tuesday.
Junior outside hitter Candace Southall led SU with seven kills, senior setter Lakenya Simpson ended the game with 11 assists and seven digs and freshman middle blocker Kirsten Buggage recorded a season high nine digs.
Lauren Mayer led SLU with 15 kills, while LaToya Anthony had 10.
SU travels to Lorman, Miss. to play Alcorn State today at 7 p.m.
SU DROPS TOUGH
ONE TO UAPB
For the first time this season Southern’s soccer team scored and held a half-time lead, 1-0, but gave up three goals in the second to lose 3-1 to Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Freshman Raedean Kurtz scored her first collegiate goal with 5:31 remaining. Goalie April Taylor ended the game with 10 saves, her first double-digit total of the season.
“I’m really proud of Raedean and April on how they played today,” said head coach John Knighten.
Pine Bluff took control in the second half as Nicole Parks scored two goals and Jade West scored the game winner helping UAPB to its first Western division win.
Southern travels to Alcorn State to face the Braves at 4 p.m. The game is a non-SWAC match.
